Insulation Technologies
TR-XLPE (Tree-Retardant Cross-Linked Polyethylene): Polycab’s TR-XLPE insulated MV cables offer superior resistance to electrochemical and water treeing — the leading cause of insulation degradation in underground MV cables. TR-XLPE provides extended cable life, reduced maintenance, and reliable performance in wet and direct burial environments. MV-105 rated for continuous operation at 105°C.
EPR (Ethylene Propylene Rubber): Polycab EPR-insulated MV cables provide outstanding flexibility, moisture resistance, and thermal stability. EPR insulation is well-suited for applications requiring frequent bending, confined-space installation, or exposure to moisture and chemical environments. MV-105 rated for continuous operation at 105°C.
Insulation Levels
Polycab MV cables are available in both 100% and 133% insulation levels per ICEA/AEIC standards. 100% insulation level is appropriate for grounded systems where ground fault detection and clearing occurs within one minute. 133% insulation level is recommended for systems where fault clearing time may exceed one minute, or for ungrounded or resistance-grounded systems requiring additional insulation margin.
