PORTABLE 250 TO 2500 LITERS PER HOUR REVERSE OSMOSIS WATER FILTRATION UNIT
PRODUCING PURIFIED DRINKING WATER FOR REMOTE LOCATIONS
Imagine having the ability to produce thousands of liters of clean and
bacteria free drinking water every day in almost any location. Imagine
having multiple points of distribution from the storage tank. Imagine
not being impacted by short term utility power failures to produce this
water.
This is all possible and available now from Xtreme Infrastructure Solutions. These water filtrations units vary in their capacity, so the correct
size for your application is readily available.
This will define the operations of the Portable Water Filtration Unit as manufactured by Xtreme Infrastrucure Solutions of India. We will discuss the prototype unit herein, which is a 500 liters per hour (LPH) filtration system with solar power support. This is a very energy efficient unit and made to support a small to medium sized village of approximately 340 households (35 liters per household – per day) assuming continuous operation of the filtration unit. It is anticipated that the filtered and sanitized water will be utilized for drinking, meal preparation and the cleaning of cooking materials only. Even so, we see 35 LPD as a reasonable level of daily water utilization per family. If less capacity is needed, the number of operating hours per day can be reduced.
One of the most important design features of this water filtration system is that it has been designed to blend easily with the existing infrastructure of small villages. Each filtration unit can be transported, set in place and connected in a single day. All that is involved is the removal of the hand pump from an existing well, the placement of the electric well pump in the same well casing, and the connection of electrical power. The filtration unit can be providing safe drinking water within hours of arrival at a given site.
The Reverse Osmosis (RO) Filtration Unit is the heart of the package. RO is well known as one of the best methods for purifying water. It removes sediment and harmful chemicals with a pre-filter system before it forces the water through a semi -permeable membrane to remove salt and dissolved solids. After the water exits the RO membrane, it passes through a post-filter to polish the drinking water before passing through a bacteria killing ultraviolet (UV) light filter, then into a storage tank for distribution.
Normal operation of the RO system requires a 230 volts power source from a 16 amp circuit breaker. The unit operates at around 7 amps total, but the onboard inverter/charger is capable of charging the batteries for the solar power system from utility power, therefore we have to ensure that this is possible should the buyer select battery charging from utility. Our recommendation is to charge the batteries from the solar panels only.
Capacities
The capacities of the portable reverse osmosis systems supports the following number of households. All numbers assume continuous operation of the water filtration system and adequate water storage capability to allow for continuous operation of the water filtration system.
If there are less households served from the water filtration unit, the number of operating hours can be reduced to match the water usage.
The solar power options provide for plant operation during periods of down-time for the utility power system. The water filtration unit is capable of at least 4 hours of operation from the battery system in any 24 hour period. This may be increased if the utility power failure occurs during daylight hours since some level of battery charging will be taking place from the solar panels.
Why produce this equipment in India you may ask? Because India has highly favorable raw materials prices, as well as labor prices. The supply chain issues that plague the North America and European markets have much less impact in India. Basically, what you need you can get. The dependence of Chinese parts is not an issue. With all of these factors, we are able to produce marketable products at a much lower cost then is possible from any country in the EU or the United States. To the customer, this means that there is a drastic difference in the cost of equipment purchased. The lower cost is not sacrificing quality. The quality of all products produced by Xtreme Infrastructure Solutions is very high. Since we operate our own factory staffed by dozens of trained technicuans, we have complete control of the final product. All equipment is properly designed and fully tested. All manufacturing is done in our factory and is constantly subjected to extreme levels of quality control. Since we have an in-house design and engineering staff, our flexibility to modify designs to suit the needs of our customers is very high

Xtreme Infrasttructure Solutions will maintain a service organization to provde scheduled maintenance and any needed service the water filtration units may require. The technicians will be factory trained in India to perform all service required. These same technicians will be dispatched to perform start-up services for units being placed into service initially. This will ensure that the filtration units are operating as designed from the first day. To support these services there will be many spare parts available in different regions to ensure that repairs can be quickly executed.
